COUNCIL COMMITTEES

 

The Borough Council has six standing Committees.  Generally, each Councilmember is designated as the Chairperson of one committee and as a member of two other Committees.  Membership in each Committee is determined annually by vote of the Council.  In addition to the duties designated to each Committee by ordinance, the Committees conduct

 

the initial review of expenditures by the departments they oversee.  The standing committees of the Borough Council are:  the Administration Committee, the  Community Development and Code Enforcement Committee, the Environment, Health and Safety, Finance Committee, the Municipal Utilities Committee and the Public Works Committee.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

 

The Finance Committee is charged with:

 

1. Preparing and recommending for the Council's approval the annual municipal budget, water and sewer utilities budgets and capital improvement budget.

 

2. Keeping the Mayor and Council informed of current and future financial needs of the Borough.

 

3. Acting as liaison to the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Tax Collector, and Tax Assessor.
